1
Grammar and Meaning
Unit 1 is about reading the sentences the LSAT is written in. Three things make those sentences hard: modification adds layers of detail to a simple core, nominalization turns actions into nouns, and the passive voice removes the actor. You learn to recognize all three and take any sentence back to who did what to whom, since every later unit assumes you can do that accurately.
2
Verbal Reasoning
Unit 2 is the vocabulary you use for every argument on the test. You learn to separate premises from a conclusion, to recognize the five meaning relationships that connect them, to place an argument in one of three types by what its conclusion does, and to read conditional statements as rules, since units 5 through 8 all name their question types in these terms.
3
Reading Comprehension Passages
Unit 3 is about reading an LSAT passage as a structure rather than as a block of text. You learn the parts a passage is made of, how those parts connect at the claim level, the claim-group level and the paragraph level, and the recurring passage types, so that you can say what a passage is doing before you look at a single question.
4
Reading Comprehension Questions
Unit 4 covers every question type in the Reading Comprehension section, grouped into four chapters. You work through what each stem is asking for, how much of the passage you have to read to answer it, and the wrong-answer patterns each type uses. All of it assumes the passage structure from unit 3, since most of these questions ask about a structural element rather than a plain fact.
5
Relevance Arguments
Unit 5 is the first of the four question-type units, and it covers relevance questions, where the correct answer is the one that changes how likely the conclusion is. It covers strengthen, weaken, evaluate and paradox, and for each one it goes through the specific groups the correct answers fall into, since recognizing what an answer is doing is faster than testing all five choices one at a time.
6
Rule Arguments
Unit 6 covers rule questions, where the correct answer is either a rule connecting the premises to the conclusion or an argument that uses the same rule as the stimulus. It covers the three principle question types: justify, where you supply the rule; illustrate, where the stimulus is a scenario rather than an argument; and scenario, where you are given the rule and find the argument it fits. All three rely on the conditional reasoning from unit 2.
7
Consequence Arguments
Unit 7 covers consequence questions, where the correct answer has to be true or has to be false given the information in the stimulus. It covers sufficient and necessary assumption, must be true and must be false, and disagreement, and it opens with the formal logic all of them depend on, since the deductions here are stricter than the ones in unit 5's relevance questions.
8
Structure Arguments
Unit 8 covers structure questions, where the answer describes the logical relationships inside the argument rather than adding anything to it. It covers conclusion questions on the main point, the two method of reasoning types on a single statement's role and on the argument as a whole, parallel reasoning on matching one structure to another, and flaw on what the author gets wrong.
